God is the trail boss. Jesus is the scout. The Holy Spirit is the buffalo hunter. We're looking for a few good pioneers to go with us. Following the way is not for the faint of heart. It's a journey that involves risk, danger, and a point of no return. Church basements and hotel conference rooms don't always do this journey justice. Following Jesus is more akin to paddling upstream with men who wouldn't mind dying with their boots on.
The Outpost is a three-day journey into the recovery of the abundant life that Jesus promised. It's a quest that can restore your relationship with God, man, and the creation. Through outdoor activities, devotional sessions, worship, periods of reflection, and dialogue we have designed something far more than a coffee and doughnut retreat-it's an expedition of the heart. We'll learn from one another and worship together. We'll track authentic community and encourage one another to live dangerously for Jesus Christ.
We desire to travel together in the spirit of a sacred trek. The challenges require interdependence. The journey was never meant to be taken solo. Tenzing Norgay, legendary climber and partner of Sir Edmund Hillary, once noted, "You cannot be a good mountaineer, however great your ability, unless you are cheerful and have the spirit of comradeship. Friends are as important as achievement. Another is that teamwork is the one key to success and that selfishness only makes a man small. Still another is that no man, on a mountain or elsewhere, gets more out of anything than he puts into it." |
